New York Bridal Fashion Week

What’s a cake designer doing at New York Bridal Fashion Week? It sounded counter-intuitive to me too. My cakes have virtually nothing to do with the bridal gown, except, of course, if I’m supposed to recreate a pattern on the dress. Still, I got a nudge from the events community that New York Bridal Fashion week was the place to be. So I booked my flight and hotel - no plans - just the contact information of a few friends. I had no idea what I was in for!

For one week in the spring and one week in the fall the bridal world descends on the streets of Manhattan to take in the latest of what bridal gown designers have to offer, and it’s not hard to rub shoulders with the very best in the business. Within a short time of a letting a few people know I’d be in town, the invites poured in. Tickets to runway shows here, a wedding professionals coffee meet-up there, an A-list weddings magazine party at an elite venue - I hardly had time to sit down.

I was even able to get in a last minute luxury events industry tea at the Plaza Hotel where we were also given an exclusive tour of the events space and luxury rooms.
Besides the networking - which was great - New York is a treasure trove of artistic inspiration. See if you can spot some of the things that caught my eye in some of my latest designs on Instagram.
